IInnovation of the Year at the Transport Innovations Show
Digital signage specialist Procyon has won the Innovation of the Year 2006 award, presented at a special evening reception on the opening day of the Transport Innovations show. The award comes straight after the company won the Digital Signage Project of the year category at the annual AV Awards

Their winning entry was based on the company’s d|sign digital signage software developed for First Group’s advanced ftr (future) passenger vehicles, with versions already in use with other leading transport companies such as Arriva, Metroline and Stagecoach.

Chairman of the judging panel Rod Fletcher commented: ”This is the next generation of information display and is a huge advance on static information. The technology is clever and it works, while information can be easily and quickly updated by on-site staff rather than having to rely on external IT providers.

The on-board systems have great potential for linking data fro a number of sources to provide on-board ‘infotainment’. Local businesses can reach highly targeted audiences with specific advertising as the vehicle approaches the most convenient stop.”

He concluded: “ We had a really strong set of entries for this year’s award and the judges had a tough job selecting the winner.”

Procyon’s managing director Pat Taylor confessed himself overwhelmed by the outcome. “Coming straight after winning the Digital Signage Project of the Year category at the annual AV Awards, such recognition by the industry where we have been so successful is a wonderful reward for our efforts, and our thanks go to everyone involved. Our digital signage systems are also widely used for communicating with staff and drivers too, so there are opportunities to use digital signage throughout the industry.”
